The Attorney General’s Office in Augusta is seeking an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) within the Professional and Financial Regulation Division. The primary responsibility of this AAG is to provide legal counsel to various professional licensing boards and programs within and affiliated with the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. Responsibilities include handling disciplinary complaints against licensed professionals, providing legal analysis and opinions on regulatory matters, performing agency rule review, defending agency decisions on appeal to the Superior Court, and enforcing agency orders in court.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must be members of the Maine Bar in good standing, detail-oriented, interested in complex state regulation, possess strong legal advocacy and writing skills, and demonstrate effective teamwork. Preference is given to candidates with one to three years of legal practice, particularly in administrative law and litigation.
