The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,482.00 per month to $5,464.00 per month (Step 1 to Step 11). This position will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in providing comprehensive medical care to intercollegiate student‑athletes. Support the daily operations of the athletic training facility, including providing medical coverage for intercollegiate practices and competitions. Perform injury evaluations, administer treatments, implement proactive injury prevention strategies, and oversee rehabilitation programs. Maintain a professional work environment and foster positive working relationships with student‑athletes, staff, and the campus community. Be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and travel with teams as needed. Maintain all required athletic training certifications.
General knowledge of the principles and practices of athletic training including conditioning, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation; therapeutic modalities; OSHA standards; HIPAA; and insurance procedures.
AbilitiesEffectively assess and evaluate injuries, develop conditioning and rehabilitation programs, manage and treat injuries, use therapeutic modalities, determine referrals, recognize life‑threatening situations, administer emergency aid, perform record‑keeping functions, and work in a competing priorities environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
EducationEquivalent to a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Coursework must include completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements.
License and CertificationsPossess and maintain Board of Certification (BOC) certification for Athletic Trainer. California driver’s license may be required.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required. Must successfully complete all required Campus Security Authority (CSA) training and maintain compliance with all required annual Clery Act training and reporting requirements.
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, if appropriate). Cal State East Bay may rescind the offer if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
