The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physicians in developing and administering the club’s comprehensive sports medicine program. Candidates should be energetic, well-organized, and able to flourish in a collaborative environment with a team approach to the medical care and performance enhancement of all Hurricanes athletes, in order to help them reach the ultimate of hockey goals, The Stanley Cup.
Responsibilities
- Assist Sports Medicine Team in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses
- Provide athletic training services for the team at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions
- Maintain medical records and documentation for all players as per NHL, Club and Legal policies
- Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to the club’s players
- Development and maintenance of injury prevention screening and preseason testing
- Maintain athletic training room and inventory of medical supplies at the game and practice facilities, and assist with training room setup for away games
- Assist with the development and implementation of the Emergency Action Plan for the game and practice facilities
- Work with the equipment managers to provide the necessary medical arrangements for visiting teams
Requirements
- NATABOC certification (5 years minimum)
- Experience with hockey at the professional, college or other elite level
- Master's degree (preferred)
- Manual Therapy Skills preferred (ex. ART, massage, Dry Needling, etc…)
- Year-round resident of the Raleigh, NC Area
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays
- Must pass a criminal background check
