Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to oversee healthcare for designated athletic teams and serve as the trainer for an assigned sport. You will evaluate and treat injuries, supervise training at practices and competitions, and coordinate with the Sports Medicine Care Team.

You will maintain medical documentation and ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, reporting any violations as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of related experience required.
• Board of Certification (BOC) Athletic Trainer certification is required.
• Alabama State licensure as Athletic Trainer must be obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare for athletic teams and act as the athletic trainer for an assigned sport.
• Evaluate and treat athletic injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation.
• Supervise athletic training at practices and competitions; liaise with the Sports Medicine Care Team for the sport.

Description

Responsible for the healthcare of athletic teams and serve as the athletic trainer for an assigned sport. Evaluates and treats athletic injuries and illnesses including rehabilitation. Supervises athletic training at an athletic practice and competition. Serves as a liaison with the Sports Medicine Care Team for a particular sport. Maintains all medical documentation relating to the assigned sport. Performs other duties as needed. Adheres to all institution, conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations. Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.

Salary Range: $43,890 - $52,500

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification (BOC). Must obtain licensure for Athletic Training by the State of Alabama upon hire.
