Description

Georgia Military College announces an opening for an Assistant Athletic Trainer to be located in Milledgeville, Georgia. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Athletic Trainer is to assist the Head Athletic trainer in providing superior care, prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic-related injuries and to help promote the overall health and well-being of each individual Student-Athlete. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administrative Responsibilities

§ Assist with the management of the daily operation of the Athletic Training Room.

§ Supervise Graduate Assist. Athletic Trainers and Clinical ATEP students

§ Serving as a referral source to the Health Services Department for evaluation of injuries within the Scope of Care of a Certified Athletic Trainer.

§ Coordination of Junior College athlete physician referrals.

§ Submission of JC athlete medical insurance claims.

§ Maintaining JC athlete medical records.

§ Assist with the maintenance of our Third-Party Reimbursement.

§ Assist with the coordination of athletic pre-participation physical exams

§ Help ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. (HIPPA, EPA, OSHA, NATA, GATA, NJCAA)

§ Assisting with the development and implementation of all Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures.

§ Implementation of Emergency Action Plans through the various practice/game sites.

§ Comprise daily injury reports for assigned teams.

§ Arrange EMS coverage for all JC athletic events as necessary.

§ Manage and maintain inventory supply.

Clinical Responsibilities

§ Daily treatment and evaluation of athletic injuries as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

§ Application of rehabilitation regimens for athletic injuries as well as, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

§ Determining the return-to-play status of athletic injuries.

§ Daily pre-game/practice taping for all JC athletic teams.

§ Maintain proper records of treatment progressions.

§ Assist with the development of In-season, Off-season, and Pre-season strength & conditioning programs.

§ Supervision of Athletic Training Students and Graduate Assistants assigned to GMC as a Clinical Rotation

Coverage Responsibilities

§ Coverage of all Junior College athletics & Away games (Must be willing to travel). Teams will be appointed by the Director of Sports Medicine and the Athletic Director.

§ Coverage of all Junior College practices and activities. Teams will be appointed by the Director of Sports Medicine and the Athletic Director.

§ Coverage of other institutional sports as appointed.

§ Coverage of the Athletic Training Room when appointed.

*Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Must be a NATABOC Certified and either licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.
  • CPR/AED Certification (Either AMA/AHA)
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training / Masters Degree preferred in related field
  • Must have experience with collegiate sports and multiple sports setting
    • Experience with football preferred
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with BlueOcean or other EMR Service is preferred
