Job summary

Job Summary

Bucknell University seeks a certified Athletic Trainer to join the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide injury and illness prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and health‑care management for student‑athletes in the intercollegiate athletics program. The role administers medical policies and insurance procedures, conducts physical examinations, follows risk‑management protocols, and communicates with student‑athletes, coaches, parents, health‑care providers, and campus stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide health‑care for assigned teams by attending practices, competitions, and team travel.
  • Deliver injury and illness prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, and therapeutic treatment.
  • Oversee rehabilitation of athletic‑related injuries, assess recovery, and coordinate physician referrals for safe return to sport.
  • Provide administrative support for student‑athlete medical care, including insurance management, medical records, follow‑up care, supply ordering and stocking, scheduling, communications, and health & safety recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) Certification for Athletic Trainers.
  • State of Pennsylvania license or eligibility for the Pennsylvania license.
  • Master’s degree (preferred but not required).
  • Completed national certification exam and eligibility for state licensure.
  • 1–2 years of collegiate athletics experience preferred.
  • Experience in an NCAA Division I program preferred.
Physical Requirements

Work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Requires moderate physical activity and handling of objects up to 25 pounds. May involve standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Salary

Salary Range: $52,100.00 – $65,100.00, based on qualifications and internal equity.
