Job description

The Department of Athletics at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 10-month, permanent position. There are currently 3 positions available. The University is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and sponsors 21 Division III varsity sports.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assisting in all day-to-day operations of the athletic training area, including providing expert athletic injury evaluation and documentation.
• Developing, implementing, and documenting athletic injury rehabilitation programs and strength and conditioning programs.
• Daily athletic team practice preparation and coverage, managing a team budget, and scheduling practices and contests.
• Knowledge, compliance, and enforcement of intercollegiate Athletics Department rules and regulations.
• Participation in student development initiatives of the intercollegiate Athletics Department.
• Hiring and supervision of student interns.
• Coverage of home and away contests for 21 varsity intercollegiate athletic teams.

They will possess the ability to effectively communicate with a range of constituents and contribute to a positive work environment.

We encourage newly certified graduates to apply. This position will also provide opportunities for those that have an interest in teaching in higher education and/or becoming a clinical preceptor.

Salary: $50,000 - $52,000, commensurate with experience. 10-month position, two-month non-obligation. SUNY Oneonta will also support all necessary Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the chosen candidate. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at suny.edu/benefits.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in athletic training or a bachelor's degree with an entry-level master's in athletic training.
• Current BOC certification or BOC eligible.
• Current NYS registration or eligible for licensing under New York's Education law.
• Current CPR and AED certifications.
• A valid driver's license.
• Effective written, communication, and presentation skills.

Preferred:

• Post-professional master's degree in athletic training or an allied health field.
• Use of athletic training software.
• Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
