Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking an Athletic Trainer to manage prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries for intercollegiate athletes. You will support the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness and help administer the Sports Medicine program.

The role requires responsibility for medical records, policy adherence, and occasional night/weekend hours with travel as needed. A CAATE program, BOC certification, and DC licensure or eligibility are expected.

Qualifications

  • Degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
  • BOC certification.
  • Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred.
  • Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification at the Basic Life Support/Professional Rescuer level or above.
  • District of Columbia Athletic Trainer Licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • NPI Number
  • Experience working in college athletics and at the NCAA Division-I level is preferred
  • Must be able to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.
  • Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications.
  • Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care for acute and chronic athletic injuries for varsity teams.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day administration of the Georgetown University Sports Medicine program.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records for each student‑athlete.
  • Adhere to Sports Medicine policies, procedures, and NATA Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Responsible for the prevention, care, evaluation, referral, rehabilitation, and treatment of acute and chronic orthopedic and medical conditions related to participation in intercollegiate athletics for not less than 2 varsity teams. Assist the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness with providing medical treatment for all student-athletes and the day-to-day administration of the Georgetown University Sports Medicine program. Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records for each student-athlete treated. Responsible for adhering to the Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct. Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness and practices under general supervision of Team Physicians as defined by the DC Department of Health Chapter 104.

This position requires considerable time above regular daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly University work schedule requirements which includes nights and weekends. Frequent travel is required.

This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Pay Range

$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
