Job summary

Newman University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach to support the NCAA Division II athletic performance program. You will help student-athletes maximize performance through strength and conditioning, while promoting health, safety, teamwork, and personal development.

Working with coaches and athletics staff, you will design sessions, mentor athletes, ensure compliance with NCAA rules, and contribute to department initiatives. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred in strength and conditioning or related field.
• Experience coaching athletes in strength and conditioning or athletic performance settings.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with student-athletes, coaches, university personnel, and community stakeholders.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass motor vehicle records check.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications per NCAA requirements.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform both office-based and physically demanding coaching activities.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred strength and conditioning organization.


• Experience coaching and developing athletes in a strength and conditioning or athletic performance setting.


• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.


• Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, university personnel, and community stakeholders.


• Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations preferred.


• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.


• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications in accordance with NCAA requirements.


• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.


• Legal authorization to work in the United States.


• Ability to perform both office-based and physically demanding coaching activities, including demonstrating athletic movements and working in training and competition environments.
