Job description

Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Communications / Athletics Recruiting Coordinator at Mount Mary University is a vital member of the Athletic Department. The role requires an enthusiastic, proactive individual committed to supporting the department's success in athletic communication, recruiting, and event management. The primary focus is collaborating with the Director of Athletic Communications to enhance athletic media efforts and supporting recruiting initiatives across all sports programs.

This position involves working closely with staff, coaches, student-athletes, prospective students, and external partners to ensure a positive experience for all stakeholders. Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends during peak seasons, is necessary.

Primary Responsibilities

Athletic Communications
  • Manage website content: rosters, schedules, scores, bios, articles, and updates.
  • Cover game days: attend home contests, record live stats, coordinate media, and create game programs.
  • Generate media content: feature articles, photos, videos, social media updates, and multimedia pages.
  • Handle nominations for awards and recognitions, and assist with event management and budget adherence.
Athletic Recruiting
  • Coordinate recruiting efforts, including database management and visit scheduling.
  • Attend recruiting meetings and adhere to NAIA and conference regulations.
  • Build relationships with prospective student-athletes through digital platforms and events.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in collegiate athletics, preferably at the NAIA level.
  • Proficiency with recruiting software (e.g., Front Rush), website management, and social media.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
  • Ability to pass background and driving record checks.

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Work schedule varies, with travel, evening, and weekend hours required.
