Assistant Athletic Coach - Varsity/Junior Varsity Softball

Requirements / Qualifications:

  1. People Skills, Communication Skills and a successful record of leading and directing a successful Athletic Program.
  2. An appreciation for the Catholic spiritual and intellectual traditions, and a willingness and comfort infusing the Catholic faith into the Athletic Program.
  3. A bachelor's degree is preferred, and successful completion of all state Basic Coaches Class work, First Aid CPR, Concussion Protocols, and Sudden Cardiac Training is required.

What You Will Do:

  1. Be familiar with and supportive of the educational philosophy of the school and the diocese of San Diego and accept the obligations of Christian witness.
  2. Provide guidance on physical training and fundamental skill development that allows the student to grow as an individual and participate in a team environment.
  3. Support the Varsity program and follow the directives of the varsity head coach. All lower-level coaches report to the varsity head coach.
  4. Communicate with all entities of the school community including students, parents, athletic department, staff/faculty, and local media.
  5. Promote academic excellence of the athletes and celebrate those successes.
  6. Always have all athletic clearance cards from participating athletes with them.
  7. Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of athletes in their care during the hours of games, practice, and team activities.
  8. Work with the Athletic Training staff when injuries occur to their athletes and ensure a safe return to the team.
  9. Keep the athletic department informed of issues that may arise during the season at practice or game sites.
  10. Begin all practices and games with prayer.
  11. Collaborate with the Dean of Mission & Ministry to provide faith formation opportunities for the team.
