Job description

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), clinical track faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor.

We are looking for a team-oriented Anatomic Pathologist to join our group. Our affiliated hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is expanding its services, providing a variety of oncologic and benign cases and opportunities for career growth for candidates with the ability and skills to build relationships across units and clinical teams. Candidates should be academically oriented board certified (AP or AP/CP) or eligible for fellowship training in Surgical Pathology. Additional subspecialty experience or interest in at least one of the following areas: Breast Pathology, GYN Pathology, Head and Neck Pathology, and Pediatric Pathology, is preferred.The successful candidate(s) will join a growing subspecialized pathology service that supports the clinical and academic mission of UTHealth Houston.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Developing and sustaining an environment in the patient care units that supports excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that support positive patient care outcomes including excellent risk-adjusted outcomes.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to clinical PAs, attending physicians, and colleagues.
  • Serving as role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborating with UTHealth Houston and hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities, and define the direction of department services, developing, and implementing plans to achieve identified goals, including OR efficiency, productivity, and patient throughput targets across the care continuum.
  • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
