Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Cell Biology invites applications for two tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor positions on the Academic Investigator track, with preference for early and mid-career investigators. Appointees will build cutting-edge research in mechanistic cell biology and/or developmental biology and contribute to graduate and medical school teaching.

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates will hold Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees, have completed several years of postdoctoral training, and can demonstrate a track record of exceptional research accomplishments.
• Potential for directing innovative, independent research programs with sustained extramural funding will be a key consideration.
• Successful candidates will pass criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent, cutting-edge research program in cell biology and/or developmental biology.
• Teach and mentor graduate and medical students as part of UVA's teaching mission.
• Collaborate across departments and with centers such as the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center and UVA Brain Institute.
