Job description

Assistant/Associate Professor - MCG-Med-Hematology/Oncology

Georgia Cancer Center and the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University are seeking full-time faculty members at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level, with a main interest in lung cancer. The successful candidate will develop a robust clinical practice in collaboration with Surgical and Radiation Oncologists in the Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary tumor clinics.

Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is a thriving academic medical center that has experienced significant growth in student applications, enrollment, and sponsored research over the past decade. The main campus is located in Augusta, Georgia's second largest city.

Augusta University hosts several research institutes focused on genomics, proteomics, and molecular medicine, providing ample opportunities for collaboration. Clinical research is supported through the Georgia Cancer Center's infrastructure, the NCORP grant, investigator-initiated trials, and Cooperative Group studies.

The city of Augusta is a growing hub with a population of around 400,000 and was recently ranked highly as a place to live in Georgia.

Responsibilities

The candidate will collaborate with scientists and clinicians to develop a cutting-edge research program. Responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching/Instruction: Reporting activities via the Educator's Portfolio and Faculty Evaluation Forms, obtaining evaluations, delivering lectures, mentoring, and participating in conferences.
  2. Research: Securing extramural funding, leading clinical trials in lung and related cancers, data analysis, and presenting at conferences. Developing a robust clinical research portfolio.
  3. Patient Care: Providing solid tumor oncology care, participating in inpatient and outpatient services, outreach activities, supervising trainees, and achieving work RVU targets.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution, with transcript verification.
  • Board-eligible in Medicine-Hematology/Oncology.
  • Completed three-year residency in Internal Medicine.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, and tuition assistance.
