Department Overview

The Department of Biology is an academic unit in the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology within the Division of Academic Affairs at Elizabeth City State University. The department offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with concentrations in General Biology, Pre‑medicine/Pre‑dentistry, and Molecular Biology/Biotechnology and minors in Secondary Education and Marine Environmental Science. The Department offers the Master of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis on Biotechnology.

Position Overview

The primary purpose of the position is to teach courses in the Department of Biology, provide student career and academic advisement, conduct student mentored research, obtain extramural funding, publish and present research results, engage in professional development, participate in community outreach activities, and serve on Department and University committees.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Biology.
  • Advisement of students for career and academic planning.
  • Conduct mentored research projects with students.
  • Secure extramural funding and manage grant proposals.
