South Dakota State University (SDSU) Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences is seeking applications for a tenure track veterinary immunologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. We are seeking an innovative educator and scientist with a research focus on mammalian food-animal infectious disease and immunological responses which will complement and enhance the current departmental research focus. This is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position located in Brookings, SD.
SDSU is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million annual research expenditure, more than 200 academic programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The university is part of a dynamic community for families, students, young professionals, and retirees, which offers an abundance of attractions and activities. The Department is within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences and the position will report to the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Department Head. The Department includes the Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (ADRDL) and the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine; a 2+2 DVM program in collaboration with the University of Minnesota. The ADRDL is a full service, accredited diagnostic laboratory, and a member of the Food Emergency Response Network (FERN), FDA Genome Trakr Program, Veterinary Laboratory Investigation Response Network (VetLIRN) and the USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). In this faculty position, there will be an opportunity to join the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Center for Biologics Research and Commercialization, a collaborative center emphasizing probiotic, vaccine and diagnostic assay development. The VBSD offers excellent new or recently renovated facilities along with a highly collaborative work environment.
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications, starting at $85,000 for Assistant Professor rank.
