Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Clinical Specialty ranging from $300,000 to $375,0000. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine seeks an accomplished researcher to lead our clinical trials and outcomes research program. The successful candidate will join a growing team dedicated to advancing evidence-based Orthopaedic trauma care through innovative trial design, patient-centered outcomes research, and collaborative international partnerships.
UC Irvine’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is committed to excellence in clinical care, research, and education. Our trauma division serves as a regional referral center, providing comprehensive care for patients with complex musculoskeletal injuries. We seek to develop robust collaborations with methodologists, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians across the university and with national research consortia.
This is Professor In-Residence faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, commensurate with qualifications. Salary is competitive and includes an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities
• Lead the design and implementation of pragmatic clinical trials in orthopaedic trauma
• Develop and expand patient-centered outcomes research using innovative statistical or study design methods
• Secure federal and industry funding to support the department’s research portfolio
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across institutions and research consortia
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in research design and implementation
• Contribute to departmental teaching activities related to research methodology
• Develop sustainable international research partnerships

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
• PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, or related field
