Position Overview

Position title: Psychiatry Research Faculty

Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $93,700 - $228,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. UC Salary information can be found here: 2025-2026 Academic Salary Scales.

Application Window: May 1, 2026 – Review on May 31, 2026; Final date May 1, 2027. Applications will be considered until these dates unless the position has been filled.

Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  • Developing an independent, extramurally funded research program.
  • Conducting teaching duties, including lecturing and mentoring in various educational programs.
  • Focusing research on priority areas such as computational psychiatry/AI, cognitive/behavioral interventions, biomarkers, neurocognitive disorders, mental health and technology, eating disorders, addiction, mood disorders, psychosis/SMI, mindfulness/empathy/compassion, neuromodulation, genetics/genomics/epigenetics, the endocannabinoid system, and other research programs and centers listed on our research page.
  • Providing clinical care depending on department needs and the candidate’s training and experience, if applicable.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (required):

  • MD, DO, or equivalent, or a PhD or equivalent in the areas of neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • An active research program in a health-related discipline with at least one year of productivity and at least one first-authored, peer‑reviewed publication.
  • More than one year of experience in teaching and/or mentorship activities.
  • For MD/DO candidates with clinical duties: eligibility for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit.
  • For PhD candidates with clinical duties: graduation from an APA-accredited doctoral program, including completion of an APA-accredited internship.

Notes:

  • Appointments may be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level based on background and experience.
  • Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
