NYU Langone Health’s Institute for Systems Genetics invites applications for tenure-track faculty at the SynBioMed Center. We seek AI/ML‑driven researchers in synthetic and systems biology, genetics, and genomics, with wet lab or computational strengths.
Senior candidates may be considered for leadership roles. The center combines genomics, proteomics, robotics and shared NYU core facilities, offering cross‑disciplinary collaboration with Biomedical Engineering, Tech4Health, and Neuroscience
The Institute for Systems Genetics (ISG) at NYU Langone Health invites applications from investigators interested using AI / machine learning approaches to synthetic biology, systems biology, genetics, genomics and other âEUR~omics to apply for tenure-track faculty positions within our new SynBioMed Center. Senior candidates may also be considered. The Center is bringing together experts in synthetic genomics and related fields to develop new technologies and conduct cutting-edge research that will advance our ability to improve human health. Located in our stunning new research facility in Long Island City, the SynBioMed Center is strategically adjacent to programs in Biomedical Engineering, Tech4Healthand Neuroscience to foster highly collaborative and innovative research. This new Center is part of the Institute for Systems Genetics, headed by Jef Boeke, Ph.D., and combines the latest technologies in systems, computational and synthetic biology to tackle fundamental and translational questions in genomics, genetics, epigenetics, and quantitative cell biology. Our faculty collaborate broadly across the institution and the vibrant research environment at NYU.
We seek wet lab and computational colleagues with a strong AI-driven research focus on synthetic and systems biology, genome engineering, genome manipulating tools (e.g. CRISPR, zinc fingers), design and application of large libraries, cutting-edge mass spectrometry, tissue engineering, synthetic biology-based imaging tools, nucleic acid delivery modalities (viral or non-viral platforms), or synbio-related omics/bioinformatic advances. Successful candidates must be AI/ML innovators or have an AI-driven research program. As part of the ISG, SynBioMed researchers can work closely with ISG staff members and members of NYUâEUR(TM)s Technology Opportunities and Ventures Office (TOV) to license technologies and / or create startup ventures. Faculty at the new SynBioMed Center will have full access to the InstituteâEUR(TM)s resources and shared space at both the Long Island City and main campuses. State-of-the-art genomics, proteomics, robotics, and microscopy facilities are integral components of the Institute, and our investigators have access to other advanced technologies through the medical centerâEUR(TM)s outstanding core facilities. Collaborations with the âEUR~omics community in NYC, NYU Tandon School of Engineering and other related entities are encouraged. The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment in one of the many relevant NYU Grossman School of Medicine Departments, and will participate in one or more graduate programs.
PhD and /or MD
