Position description
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Regular/In-Residence series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in the field of Cardiovascular Medicine. Faculty in this series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.
The candidate will fulfill the teaching requirement by participating in the following courses: 1) CLH298, Training Program in Basic and Translational Cardiovascular Science. 2) MCP298, Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Cardiac Excitability, 3) Directed reading of the literature in basic and translational research. These courses provide an overview of state-of-the-art cardiovascular research to undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral trainees. The candidate is also expected to develop a new graduate seminar series in cardiac electrophysiology and anion transporters, chloride physiology and pathology, and cardiac acid-base regulation. The candidate will also be expected to participate in graduate programs for mentoring graduate students.
Expectations
Cardiovascular Medicine Faculty responsibilities include direct inpatient and outpatient clinical care; teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; university/public service; and regular attendance at scheduled meetings and CME activities. The incumbents should be able to provide expert clinical care in the field of cardiovascular medicine. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse group of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and nurse practitioners in one of the most highly regarded Cardiovascular Program in the United States. The applicant should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, ability to foster collegiality and collaboration in a diverse environment is required. This position is open to all ranks, Assistant, Associate and Full Professor.
