Job summary

The Worcester Art Museum seeks a dynamic Assistant/Associate Curator of Asian and Islamic Art to care for, research, interpret, and develop its established and growing collection. This role shapes both permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions, drawing on strengths in Edo-period Japanese prints, early Chinese sculpture, and Jain/Islamic pieces.

Qualifications

• Expertise in arts of Asia and/or Islamic world; language reading proficiency preferred.
• Museum/ gallery/ curatorial experience including exhibition development and installations.
• Strong research, writing, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research on the collection and contribute to exhibitions and acquisitions.
• Collaborate across departments and with outside contractors; engage public audiences.
• Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant proposals; supervise interns and volunteers.
