Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences required or equivalent.
  • Five years of clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • AZ licensure or licensure-eligibility; CCC-SLP from ASHA required.
  • Prior graduate student supervision experience preferred.
  • Experience with adult populations; Spanish skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based clinical services and supervise students in clinical settings.
  • Lead aphasia program development and cognitive-communication clinic.
  • Teach, engage in scholarship, and partake in departmental service activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty to deliver evidence-based services and contribute to program leadership.
  • Dedicate ~90% to clinical teaching and service; ~10% to departmental service.

Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor, Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences (Career-Track)

Location: Tucson Campus, Tucson, AZ

Position Highlights: The University of Arizona's Department of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences seeks a full-time Speech-Language Pathology clinical faculty member. This is a 12-month position scheduled to begin in late fall 2026.

The position will be expected to:

  • Provide evidence-based clinical services and student clinical supervision for adult neurologically-based communication disorders.
  • Lead the aphasia program and develop a cognitive-communication clinic.
  • Participate in the teaching, scholarship, and service activities of the academic program.
  • The Department is renowned for its clinical training programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, with active doctoral programs. The department includes 30 faculty members, 104 graduate students in MS, AuD, and PhD programs, and 208 undergraduate students. Faculty benefit from collaborative environments within the university and the Southern Arizona communities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Workload distribution: 90% clinical teaching and clinical service; 10% departmental service.

Teaching and clinical service:

  • Assess and treat clients with communication disorders.
  • Participate in clinical education.
  • Collaborate with departmental faculty to provide evidence-based services.
  • Assist clinical program leadership with clinical administration or development as assigned.
  • Teach in the classroom related to area/s of expertise as assigned.
  • Develop areas of specialty practice.

Service activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate effectively on departmental and university committees.
  • Participate in student recruitment, admission, and retention.
  • Relate to and interact successfully and collegially with students and peers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Five years of clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • L lasage for practice in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Arizona (licensure or licensure eligibility).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Previous experience providing graduate student supervision.
  • Experience with adult populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with program development.
  • Experience serving culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Experience with aphasia, cognitive-communication disorders, and motor speech disorders.
  • Spoken/written Spanish language skills.
