Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking Substitute Teacher/Assistant Teacher for K-5 at Great Hearts Veritas in Phoenix, AZ. The role offers two tracks: Teaching Assistant (bachelor’s degree not required) and Apprentice Teacher, with mentorship from a Master Teacher within a classical liberal arts setting.

Responsibilities include supporting lead teachers, implementing a Core Knowledge curriculum, and opportunities for advancement to lead teacher roles with a bachelor’s degree.

Teaching Assistant And Apprentice Teacher Rolesat Great Hearts

• As a K-5 Teaching Assistant, you support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum. A bachelor’s degree is not required for this role.
• As an Apprentice Teacher, you function as a second teacher in the classroom, without shouldering the burden of all planning, grading/evaluation, parent communications
• Through mentorship with a Master Teacher, you learn the craft of teaching in a classical, liberal arts primary-school environment.
• Many of our ATs become lead teachers at either lower or upper schools (assuming a bachelor’s degree)

Physical Functions

• Must be able to maintain a stationary (standing or sitting) position for 25% of the time.
