Job summary

Steamboat Springs High School seeks an Assistant Alpine Skiing Coach for the upcoming season. Responsibilities include coaching high school athletes, coordinating practice and race schedules, and ensuring CHSAA compliance.

Ideal candidates have Alpine skiing ability at an intermediate level or higher and prior race experience. Duties also include communication with staff, roster updates, and maintaining equipment and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Meet the Coaching Certification requirements of the State of Colorado, Steamboat Springs High School, and CHSAA.
• Pass CHSAA coaching test each school year and maintain CHSAA coaching registration and first aid certification.
• Uphold eligibility policies and professional conduct for the program.

Responsibilities

• Work various schedules for practices and races.
• Alpine ski at intermediate level or higher; race experience preferred.
• Coach high school students ages 14-18.
• Communicate regularly with head coach, Athletic/Activities Director, student participants and parents; provide roster updates.
• Follow and uphold CHSAA eligibility policies and procedures; keep Director informed of conflicts.
• Promote ethical conduct and healthy lifestyle regarding substances.
• Serve as supervising adult from departure to student pickup.
• Take ownership for care and security of program equipment.
• Adhere to uniform/equipment check-out procedures and inventory storage.

Season Dates: 11/16/26- 2/25/27.

Pay range: Stipend paid for the season $3,880.00-$5,701.00 DOE

Description:

• Ability to work various schedule for practices, and races.
• Ability to Alpineski at intermediate or more level, race experience preferred.
• Able to work well with,and coach high school students ages 14-18.
• Communicate effectively and regularly with the head coach, Athletic/Activities Director, student participants/team members, their parents and program coaches/sponsors so that expectations and procedures are clear.Provide continual updates of your team/group roster to the School Athletic/Activities Director and keep the Director fully informed of possible conflict issues within your program.
• Follow and uphold all Steamboat Springs School District eligibility policies and procedures, maintain current CHSAA coaching registration, current first aide certification and successfully pass the CHSAA coaching test each school year.
• Always conduct yourself in an ethical and professional manner and promote to the team/group members a healthy lifestyle with respect to use/abuse of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and steroids.
• Operate with the understanding and requirement that you are the supervising adult for all athletic or other activity participation at the school and will remain so from the time the team/group leaves the school until all students have been picked up by their parents upon return of the team/group.
• Take ownership for the care and security of program equipment.
• Follow the uniform/equipment check-out procedures and account for all student use and collection of, inventory of and proper storage of all uniforms/equipment within two weeks of the end of the season.
• Previous knowledge of Alpine ski technique and rules and coaching experience strongly preferred.
• Physically able to perform the following on a daily basis.
• Ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, withstand frequent pushing, pulling, squatting and reaching.
• Ability to withstand exposure to the outdoor elements including extreme cold, extreme hot, rain, snow and other mountain climatic conditions.

Qualifications:

It is theresponsibility of theAssistant Coach to meet the Coaching Certification requirements of the State of Colorado, Steamboat Springs High School, and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and to perform the services prescribed for this position by the Board of Education or its designated representative.
