Assistant Coach Position at Livonia Community Swim Club (LCSC)

Are you passionate about coaching and driven by a commitment to excellence?

LCSC is seeking an Assistant Coach with three years of experience who will contribute to our tradition of developing top tier athletes within a supportive and dynamic environment. This role is vital in assisting the Head Coach to guide our swimmers toward achieving their long-term potential while fostering a culture of mutual respect, contagious enthusiasm, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient and Thorough Coaching:Leverage your strong knowledge of swimming biomechanics to design effective, athlete-focused training. You'll guide each drill step-by-step, providing clear, actionable feedback on stroke technique to help every swimmer reach their full potential.
  • Collaborative Coaching Approach:Work closely with the Head Coach to ensure every athlete benefits from a cohesive and progressive development plan tailored for swimmers aged 12+U. Your focus will be on the holistic development of each swimmer’s skills.
  • Group Management & Practice Leadership:Assist in leading practice sessions for groups of up to 20 swimmers in a safe, challenging, and dynamic environment. Your energy and attentiveness will be critical to the swimmers' growth and performance. You will also be expected to learn our training system and write appropriately challenging practices conforming to a season plan.
  • Strength and Conditioning (S&C):You will be expected to adopt and coach the LCSC Dry Land Program with a focus on injury prevention, mobility, and performance enhancement. Prior experience or a strong interest in S&C is preferred, and training will be provided as needed
  • Commitment to Schedule:Be consistently prompt, present, and fully engaged. You will coach during weeknights and weekends, aligning with our team’s practice schedules and competitive events.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications:Possess, or be prepared to complete all USA Swimming safety and coaching requirements immediately post-hire. Current First Aid, CPR, and lifeguard certifications are mandatory for ensuring the safety and well-being of our athletes.
  • Experience:Previous experience working with young swimmers across various age groups, particularly 12+U Development, is crucial. You must be able to inspire and guide them toward their goals, helping them connect the dots in their development journey.
  • Leadership Skills:Demonstrate strong leadership, effectively managing and motivating large groups of swimmers while maintaining a safe, positive, and team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Background Check:A successful background check is required, reflecting our commitment to maintaining a secure and supportive environment.
