Job description

Great Lakes Adventist Academy in Cedar Lake, MI

Lake Union Conference | Michigan Conference

Great Lakes Adventist Academy is searching for a full-time Assistant Advancement Director to join our school family as soon as possible. The primary focus of the Assistant Advancement Director will be marketing and recruiting, although the Director and Assistant Director will work very closely in meeting the overall needs of the department. The selected individual will be responsible for managing the school website and social media sites, marketing the school in Adventist publications, promoting the school at major events (i.e. camp meeting, youth camps, youth events), and recruiting at elementary schools. The ideal candidate will also possess photography skills to capture and share school events, potentially teach an introductory photography class, and sponsor the school’s yearbook.

Great Lakes Adventist Academy is a 9-12 grade boarding academy located in Cedar Lake, Michigan and it serves approximately 185 students (over 90% boarding). We have seen continuous growth in enrollment over the past five school years, speaking to the stability and growth of the school program. GLAA was established in 1987 when Cedar Lake Academy (est. 1898) and Adelphian Academy (est. 1904) merged to become one school, and the school is well established and rich with history. GLAA is known for its strong academics, traditional Adventist values, and its family atmosphere. To learn more, visit the GLAA Facebook page or the website at www.glaa.net.

We are looking for an individual who is committed to the mission and message of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is passionate about ministering to young people in a boarding school setting. The ideal candidate will be relational, inclusive, and professional. He/she will create a Christ-centered environment in their department and in the broader school family. Other school responsibilities will include being a member of a supervision team, leading students as a class/organization sponsor, serving on committees, and any additional duties outlined by the principal. We have a very close-knit staff family, and the ideal candidate will be a team player who is willing to be part of a wonderful, supportive school community.

Required Experience

Applicants must be committed, regularly attending Seventh-day Adventist church members in good standing. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, or similar field and/or experience in this area would be ideal. However, all qualified individuals are welcome to apply.

Wages will be based on the Lake Union Wage Scale. All full-time, salaried employees are required to live on campus, so campus housing will be provided at a reasonable rent. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English and must already be eligible to work in the United States. Please note that resumes will be reviewed as they are received with interviews scheduled on an ongoing basis. The position may be filled prior to the posting expiration date.
