Job summary

Roman Eagle Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Danville, VA, seeks an Assistant Activities Director to plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging resident programs. This role supports the Activities Department’s daily operations and enhances residents’ quality of life through recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.

The ideal candidate will be organized, compassionate, with leadership and strong communication skills, experience in elderly care, and the ability to supervise activity

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in therapeutic recreation.
• Knowledge of medical documentation practices.
• Supervisory or leadership experience.
• Understanding of elderly population needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting resident activities and events.
• Develop activities reflecting residents' interests, needs and abilities.
• Support creation of individualized activity plans at admission.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation per procedures.
• Supervise activity staff and assist with leadership duties.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families and interdisciplinary team.
• Lead and participate in recreational activities including exercises, games and events.
• Promote resident engagement and participation in programs.
