Job summary

Manassas Park City School Board invites applications for the position of Assistant Activities Director – MPHS Fall Season (Stipend Only). The role supports the MPHS Director of Student Athletics and Activities in planning, coordinating, and supervising athletic and extracurricular programs at Manassas Park High School.

The stipend is $3,000 per season and falls during Fall, Winter, or Spring, with hours varying based on the activities schedule.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience as an activities director, assistant activities director, coach, or school administrator required; Three (3) or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, coaches, sponsors, administrators, staff, parents, officials, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision and administration of the school's athletic and activities program.
  • Provide event supervision for athletic contests and school activities at the assigned school and, when needed, other division locations.
  • Assist with the coordination and documentation of the Coaches Education Program.
  • Coordinate communication with athletic officials regarding contest schedules and program needs.
  • Coordinate transportation for athletic teams and events.
  • Assist with scheduling athletic facilities for practices, competitions, and related activities.
  • Coordinate game-day operations, including ticket sales, security, concessions, athletic trainers, emergency personnel, and other event support staff.
  • Assist with the orientation, support, and supervision of coaches and activity sponsors.
  • Attend district, regional, or other meetings in the absence of the Director of Student Athletics and Activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, VHSL, and local policies, including Title IX requirements.
  • Promote participation in and awareness of school athletic and extracurricular programs throughout the school community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Athletics and Activities or the Building Principal.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: MPHS Director of Student Athletics and Activities

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Activities Director supports the Director of Student Athletics and Activities in planning, coordinating, and supervising the school's athletic and extracurricular programs. This position helps ensure that athletic events and student activities are well organized, compliant with applicable regulations, and provide a positive experience for students, staff, families, and the community.

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience as an activities director, assistant activities director, coach, or school administrator required; Three (3) or more years of related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, coaches, sponsors, administrators, staff, parents, officials, and community members.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of interscholastic athletic and extracurricular programs.
  • Knowledge of VHSL, regional, district, and local athletic rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office software applications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position operates in both office and school activity settings, including gymnasiums, athletic fields, stadiums, auditoriums, and outdoor venues. Duties require frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout events, as well as occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, lifting, carrying, and pushing or pulling equipment and supplies. Regular use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment is required. The employee must be able to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, officials, and community members in a variety of settings.

Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and may include evenings, weekends, and extended hours during athletic seasons and special events. The position requires attendance at athletic contests and school-sponsored activities and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels.
