Job summary

Lexus of Wilmington is seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager to provide fiduciary support, maintain records, and generate accurate financial data for dealership operations. You will lead with ownership, prepare monthly statements, reconcile ledgers, and support audits in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate with senior management and various departments.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; or 2+ years related experience.
• Experience with general ledger and month-end close.
• Strong numeric and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares ad-hoc management reports and financial analysis.
• Prepares complete monthly financial statements and reconciles ledgers.
• Maintains cash position and petty cash accounts; closes month-end.
• Ensures compliance with government regulations and manufacturer accounts.
• Assists in annual audit and prepares miscellaneous reports as needed.
• Communicates findings to senior management and staff.

The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in processing and generating financial data for all dealership departments, which together represent the accurate financial condition of the business. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely completion of various accounting and administrative functions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Prepares ad-hoc management reports and financial analysisPrepares complete and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership guidelines and manufacturers’ format and time frame requirementsReconciles general ledger accountsControls all posted documents, including time records, vehicle deals, commissions, and inventory additions/adjustmentsPrepares daily cash position reportPrepares daily sales activity reportMaintains and reconciles petty cash accountsProvides a timely daily operating control (DOC) and keeps the senior management informed about trendsReconciles general ledger accountsApproves adjustments to inventory and receivable accountsEnsures that all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest, protection, and co-op advertising accounts are current and accuratePrints monthly journals, schedules, and general ledgerCloses month by processing accounting month-endAssists in completion of annual review/auditEnsures compliance with all government regulationsStays abreast of current factory incentives and codes deliveries on dealership computer system accordinglyReviews sales commission/chargeback detail reportsManages the payoff of vehicle floor plan and works with bank representativesOversees collection of past due accountsCompiles information and prepares ad-hoc reports as requested by senior managementMaintains a professional appearanceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general publicAbility to calculate figures and apply mathematical conceptsSelf-Starter with proven ability to seek out new ways to build opportunities for the dealership and customer satisfactionHigh level of initiative and ability to work in a teamBasic MS Office knowledge; computer software, internet proficiency and general mathematic skillsQUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, or a minimum of 2+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceOur MileOne Employee Advantage:MileOne believes that taking care of our employees is the most important step in creating a positive workplace and a successful company.
