Job summary

Peopleworks America Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a manufacturing facility specializing in industrial battery production.

You will lead the accounting team, manage GL, close processes, and ensure GAAP-compliant reporting while partnering with Operations and Supply Chain to improve cost visibility and profitability.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred (battery/manufacturing).
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; ERP systems experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the accounting team through month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
  • Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Develop staff and maintain strong internal controls and policies.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Analyze financial results and advise on profitability, efficiency, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to improve cost visibility and manufacturing performance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for a manufacturing facility specializing in industrial battery production. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and regulations, effective cost accounting practices, inventory valuation, and strong internal controls. The Accounting Manager will partner with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to drive financial performance and support strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Develop, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff to maintain a high-performing finance organization.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to management regarding profitability, operational efficiency, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities.
  • Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators.
  • Oversee standard costing, product costing, variance analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Manage inventory accounting, including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, labor efficiencies, production yields, scrap, and inventory variances.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve cost visibility and manufacturing performance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and support audit requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Support ERP system implementation, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leverage financial systems and reporting tools to enhance decision-making and operational visibility.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Human Resources to support business objectives.
  • Provide financial guidance for capital expenditures, manufacturing projects, and operational investments.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to improve productivity, inventory management, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

Required Skills

  • 3+ of accounting or finance experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; industrial manufacturing, battery manufacturing, automotive, chemical, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and develop meaningful financial reports and dashboards.
