Job summary

SMI is seeking an Assistant Equine Account Manager in Lynnwood, WA. This on-site/ hybrid role involves building strong client and carrier relationships, processing quotes, and renewals, and staying current on underwriting guidelines.

You will manage communications between clients, carriers and the sales team, with a focus on accuracy and timely responses in a fast-paced brokerage environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as assistant/account manager in a brokerage or captive agency with an active P&C license.
  • Strong client service orientation and ability to manage relationships with carriers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, carriers and vendors.
  • Respond to client, carrier, sales team and supervisor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on equine mortality carrier products, guidelines, and underwriting changes.
  • Analyze and compare current exposures to develop renewal or new business specs for marketing.
  • Process and submit new and renewal client marketing, review quotes for competitiveness, and negotiate rates when appropriate.

YOUR Keys to Success -
  • Cultivate strong relationships with - and serve as the main point of contact for your portfolio of clients, key vendors, and carriers.
  • Respond to clients, insurance carriers, sales team, and supervisors'
  • correspondences and requests in a timely, effective, and professional manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on equine mortality related carrier products, guidelines, underwriting, and legislative changes in order to make effective recommendations to clients.
  • Analyze and compare current equine mortality exposures to develop renewal or
    new business specs for marketing.
  • Process and submit new and renewal clients for marketing and placement, review and summarize quotes for competitiveness and accuracy, and negotiate rates when appropriate.

What YOU Bring -
  • 2+ years of assistant / account management experience in a brokerage or captive agency with an active Property and Casualty insurance license
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented, hungry and driven to learn equine coverages, carriers and policies
  • Superior communication, negotiation, presentation, organization and listening skills
  • Strong customer focus and follow up skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment within tight deadlines. Highly organized with strong time management skills
