Assistant Academic Research Scientist, School of Medicine: Biochemistry

Position Overview

Under minimal supervision, the Assistant Academic Research Scientist performs highly technical and complex tasks to advance basic and translational research programs. Responsibilities include molecular modeling, computer-aided drug design (docking, QSAR, core replacement, pharmacophore modeling), and experience with software such as Schrödinger, Cresset, and GraphPad. Wet lab experience in cloning, mammalian cell culture, and recombinant protein expression and purification is also preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work with experimental platforms specific to the program.
  2. Design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
  3. Review literature and develop protocols.
  4. Assist in grant applications as needed.
  5. Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD, or
  • Master's degree with two years of professional experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience in a related research or technical lab.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in biochemistry and bioinformatics.
