Job summary

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Experimental Inorganic, Analytical, or Physical Chemistry at Salt Lake City, beginning 07/01/2027.

We seek candidates focusing on solid-state materials, analytical methods, spectroscopy, or interfaces, with emphasis on AI/ML applications. A Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral experience is desirable; strong teaching and mentorship are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry required or anticipated at time of application.
• Strong research trajectory with potential for external funding.
• Proven excellence in teaching and mentorship at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an externally funded research program in inorganic/analytical/physical chemistry.
• Educate and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Experimental Inorganic, Analytical, or Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. We seek candidates working in one of the following areas:

• Inorganic chemistry, with an emphasis on solid-state materials
• Analytical chemistry, broadly defined
• Experimental physical chemistry, with an emphasis on spectroscopy or interfaces

Candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence and/or machine learning are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to develop a vigorous, internationally visible, and well-funded research program and should exemplify effective teaching and mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students. A Ph.D. is required, and postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
