Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is seeking a high-caliber leader to guide a product engineering business team. You will provide direction, ensure accurate timely analysis, and strengthen the powertrain components.

You will set daily priorities, mentor engineers, manage performance, and own SEQDCM metrics and plant-wide project coordination. You will also oversee technical reports, budget control, and regular reporting of results to leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience based on education.
• Background in modern internal combustion engine and powertrain components.
• Ability to lead, advise and mentor direct reports in root cause analysis and countermeasure development.

Job Purpose

Lead and guide a product engineering business team. Provide direction, ensure accurate timely analysis, and strengthen the powertrain components

Key Accountabilities

• Set direction for daily activities of product engineering team while assuring timeliness and accuracy
• Develop associates through mentorship, prioritization, performance management, training and contructive / disciplinary feedback as needed
• Responsible for all SEQDCM metrics and business plan direction.
• Coordinate and lead plant wide projects to identify Q concerns and establish team and set plan to investigate Q concerns
• Support/Advise/Mentor/Lead other associates on problem analysis projects
• Approval of all technical reports. Provide technical direction
• Maintain financial control of team expense and investment budget
• Report team activity and results for department, plant and company business metrics

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Science / Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.

Minimum Experience

• 8+ years’ experience based on education
• A demonstrated background of modern internal combustion engine and component function knowledge is desired.
• The Asst Mgr Mfg Quality Engineer is expected to confidently lead/advise/mentor their direct report associates in the direction and path forward regarding analysis of root case and countermeasure development for various engine/powertrain functional concerns and failure modes.

Other Job-Specific Skills

• Experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering

Working Conditions

• Moderate lifting of components
• Ability to enter / evaluate manufacturing work environment
• Analysis tools including hand tools, power tools, strain gauge equipment, and bolt tension measurements
• ~ 5 hour OT / week, with need to work unexpected overtime as issues arise.
• Limited supplier and international travel
