Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. seeks an Assignments Editor for KTLA to lead information gathering and story assignments, tracking stories from all sources including government agencies, social media, wire services and community groups.

You will dispatch photographers and reporters, coordinate logistics for news teams, participate in daily assignment discussions and follow up on ongoing stories. English fluency and strong communication are essential, with at least two years in news operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Minimum two years' experience in news operations.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Track stories from government agencies, social media, wire services and community groups.
• Dispatch photographers, reporters and other personnel to cover stories.
• Coordinate logistics for news personnel.
• Participate in daily story assignment discussions and development.
• Follow up on previous stories and update ongoing coverage.
• Edit video clips as assigned; potential for writing for web and eMedia platforms.
• Interact with viewers/users on social media and by phone in a professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
