Job summary

WBTV-TV/Gray Media is seeking an experienced assignment editor to join our newsroom in Charlotte, NC. The role requires a self-motivated, positive team player with strong communication and organizational skills to plan, deploy field resources, and generate compelling story ideas for multiple platforms.

You will work independently and with a team to respond quickly to breaking news and ensure accurate, engaging coverage.

Qualifications

• Schedule flexibility is a must.
• This is a full-time hourly position and may include working overnight, holidays, and weekends as well as some overtime.

Responsibilities

• Daily planning and deployment of field resources
• Content creation for all platforms
• Effective response during breaking news situations
• Generate story ideas through various sources; discern credible news tips
• Other duties as assigned
