Job summary

Spectrum News seeks an experienced Assignment Editor to coordinate coverage of major stories across traditional and digital platforms. You will manage news teams, allocate resources, and set priorities for timely, accurate reporting.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in a television newsroom, a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent experience, and strong verbal and written communication skills to craft compelling coverage while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience: Assignment desk experience in a television newsroom (4+ years).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication or related field preferred.
• Technical Skills: Ability to develop sources and build reliable news contacts.
• Skills: Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate news teams, resources and logistics to cover major stories.
• Establish priorities and assign news units to events and coverage areas.
• Organize the news gathering team’s duties and brainstorm article ideas.
