Job summary

Spectrum News in Charlotte seeks an Assignment Editor to coordinate news teams, resources, and logistics to cover major stories during the assigned shift. You will establish priorities, assign news units, and organize the news gathering team's duties while collaborating on article ideas across traditional and digital platforms.

The role requires 4+ years of assignment desk experience, a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Communications preferred, and strong written and verbal communication skills;

Qualifications

• Assignment desk experience in a television newsroom.
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred
• Ability to develop sources
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with populations
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadline
• Must be open to travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
• Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies; willing to work weekends and holidays
• Works inside a climate-controlled environment in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment
