Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted area of the firm that partners with all parts of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and control to preserve and enhance the firm’s assets and its reputation. For every trade agreed, every new product launched or market entered, every transaction completed, it is Operations that develops the processes and controls that makes business flow.

OUR IMPACT

WM Operations Risk and Resilience is a team of Embedded Risk Managers (ERMs) that closely partners with WM Operations leadership and team managers to continuously measure and assess levels of risk for existing and new processes within the subdivision. The ERMs utilize components of the Operations Risk Management Framework to improve the consistency of risk measurement and risk assessment practices across the subdivision.

Our team is responsible for coordinating the Operations Risk Management framework activities across our subdivision, with a particular focus on risk reporting, remediation, and governance. Other key responsibilities include proactively improving the risk and control framework across Operations through more objective control assessments, conducting post-implementation reviews, and developing risk training programs and risk management tools.

Our team of critical thinkers partners with groups in all areas of the firm to perform data analytics and reporting. The role includes leveraging key contacts in the division, managing senior leadership conversations, driving risk meetings on a weekly basis, facilitating the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, performing targeted risk assessments, and using personal initiative to ensure appropriate judgment in both planning and event management.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks within the organization. Support the development and implementation of risk management strategies and control enhancements.
  • Perform data analytics using metrics to identify trends and themes. Utilize tools such as Excel, SharePoint, and other analytics tools to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Engage with and influence stakeholders across various levels of the organization. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of WM Operations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes by generating innovative ideas and practical solutions. Demonstrate a proven track record of improving processes and successful teamwork.
  • Review existing processes and controls within Operations teams to identify potential risks or gaps, and suggest enhancements to mitigate those risks.
  • Support project management efforts by effectively prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills required for the role. Take initiative to broaden knowledge and enhance financial/analytical skills.
  • Work with the Operations team to challenge the status quo and continuously enhance the control environment. Manage operational risks and develop control enhancements.
  • Clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across key stakeholders. Possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage and influence stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows, and excellent attention to details.
  • Must possess the ability to perform data analytics using metrics to identify trends and themes. Should have proficiency in Excel and SharePoint, and the ability to take data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrates strong technical skills required for the role, takes initiative to broaden his/her knowledge, and demonstrates appropriate financial/analytical skills.
  • Sound time management skills to be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task.
  • Drive and Motivation - Successfully handles multiple tasks, takes initiative to improve her/his own performance, works intensely towards extremely challenging goals and persists in the face of obstacles or setbacks.
  • Proven track record of improving processes and demonstrating successful teamwork.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage operational risks and to develop control enhancements.
  • Good interpersonal skills to build strong relationship with key stakeholders within and outside of Operations.
  • Good influencing skills to work with the Operations team in challenging the status quo and continuously enhancing the control environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be Innovative and generate ideas and suggestions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Alteryx and Tableau.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Solid knowledge & experience in the Financial Services industry.
