Public Investing Market Insights Overview


The Public Investing Market Insights Team curates and centralizes investment insights and thought leadership across all public investing teams and asset classes, including fundamental equity, quant equity, fixed income, and multi-asset solutions. The team plays a crucial role in:



  • Providing Cohesive Market Views: Offering a unified set of public market perspectives and editorial oversight for Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

  • Establishing Thought Leadership: Setting the cadence for thought leadership and delivering investment insights across public markets.

  • Developing Retirement Client Perspectives: Creating and sharing insights on key retirement-related topics and market themes to inform clients.

  • Collaborating for Market Responses: Partnering with CIOs, investment teams, Marketing, and Client Portfolio Management (CPM) teams to ensure timely responses to market volatility.

  • Conducting and Supporting Research: Leading research efforts and supporting the research agenda on key investment and macroeconomic themes.

  • Engaging with Clients and Media: Facilitating engagement with clients and financial media on cross-asset market and portfolio questions.

  • Informing Editorial Content: Shaping the Editorial Board agenda and supplementing it with relevant market views and insights.


Role Overview


Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Public Investing Market Insights Team is seeking an Analyst/Associate to join the team in New York. The candidate will participate in all aspects of the team's work, including contributing to market, investment, and macro thought leadership, working with client portfolio management (CPM) teams on investment-related content, and occasionally participating in client meetings and presentations. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and take ownership of certain publications produced by the team. Candidates should have a commitment to a team-oriented culture and possess a natural inquisitiveness and enthusiasm for financial markets and investment research.


Responsibilities



  • Content Creation and Coordination: Create and author investment content for broad dissemination to clients and prospects, including white papers, investment analyses, briefing notes, and PowerPoint presentations. Take ownership and coordinate the creation of recurring publications and research projects based on market dynamics, regulatory changes, client activity, or other catalysts. Contribute to event-driven content in a timely manner.

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct primary and secondary research on financial markets, institutional investors, and retail advisors, including specific investor types such as defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans. Coordinate research projects with third-party organizations to integrate external analysis into current themes impacting the market and retirement savers.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support product and solution-based research findings and client needs. Partner with client advisor teams to develop materials, strategies, and review potential solutions for engaging with prospects and existing clients. Work with product teams to communicate investment challenges to institutional and retail investors and collaborate on designing and investigating potential solutions.

  • Content Distribution and Engagement: Partner with investors, portfolio managers, marketing, client coverage, the Executive Office, and compliance to ensure timely and compliant distribution of content. Present key takeaways from fixed income and economic publications to client coverage teams, clients, and financial media.

  • Data Visualization and Analytics: Collaborate with marketing to distill financial market and economic data into graphs, infographics, and other data visualizations. Monitor content engagement analytics produced by marketing teams.

  • Database Management: Create and maintain databases of transactional and publicly sourced data to assist with publications and client-requested analysis. Manage and drive the content calendar to support commercial opportunities, including areas of strategic focus.


Qualifications



  • 1-3 years of experience in asset management or financial services.

  • Undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) in any discipline, with a preference for business-related fields such as Finance or Economics.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial and economic information into clear and digestible insights for both internal and external audiences.

  • Proficiency in conveying financial and economic data through graphs and charts.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

  • High attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content.

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and complete requests for analysis in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.

  • Core soft skills including creativity, leadership, flexibility, critical thinking, commercial acumen, and collaboration.

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and products, and comfortable working with large amounts of data, including discerning high-quality data sources.

  • Proficiency in Macrobond and/or Bloomberg is a plus.

  • CFA study (at any level) is a plus.



Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $90000-$125000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
