Job summary

Recursion is seeking an Executive Director, Asset Team Lead, to shape asset strategy for small molecule programs in oncology and immunology. You will translate AI-enabled insights into competitive advantages and lead cross-functional teams to optimize portfolio value and patient impact.

The role requires a PhD in life sciences and 10+ years in biotech/pharma with evidence of strategic leadership, financial acumen, and executive presence.

Qualifications

• PhD in life sciences or related field required.
• 10+ years in biotech/pharma with asset-level leadership.
• Expertise in small molecule oncology and immunology/inflammation.
• Experience using computational approaches and data platforms for asset strategy.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to discuss resourcing and portfolio trade-offs.
• Excellent executive presence and ability to present to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive asset strategy for small molecule clinical programs in oncology and immunology/inflammation — integrating competitive positioning, mechanistic differentiation, biomarker strategy, and patient segmentation to sharpen go/no-go and prioritization decisions across the portfolio.
• Translate Recursion OS and ClinTech insights into asset advantages, ensuring data and computational insights enable advancement of drug discovery and development.
• Develop and pressure-test the competitive narrative for each asset, informing leadership discussions and investor communications.
• Partner with clinical development, BD, finance and platform teams to align resources with strategic conviction and impactful workstreams.
• Propagate the Recursion mindset of radically changing lives by raising the bar on asset differentiation and patient impact.
