About Gap

Gap has always been about optimistic American style. Starting with our very first store on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco, opened almost 50 years ago by Doris and Don Fisher. The thread that’s run through those five decades is the phenomenal people that make up our brand - our employees and our customers. People who are rooted in the legacy that makes Gap what it is, but who are also focused on the future. People who want to leave the world better than they found it.

We’ve built our brand on staying true to our roots while always being out in front of what’s next. If you want to be part of an iconic American brand, and help lead the way for where we’re headed, we’d love to have you join us.

About The Role

In this role, you will embody Do The Right Thing by protecting People, Assets, and Brands. You will work in an energized, fast-paced environment focused on creating a safe environment for our employees, teams, and customers. This is critical to driving our Brand Power, Enduring Customer Relationships, and exuding our commitment to Team and Values. You’ll need to understand the big picture strategy and work with cross-functional teams and external partners.

You are responsible for identifying and mitigating safety, external theft, and fraud trends within a specific store. This role provides in-store response and support, focusing on immediate safety concerns, Habitual Offenders, and high-impact external theft/fraud incidents through the use of company technology (CCTV, Incident Reporting, and AP related resources). You will also teach and train Store Leaders and Brand Associates on safe practices and the use of Company Case Management and Reporting systems.

The Asset Protection Specialist reports to the on-campus Asset Protection Manager or an Area Asset Protection Manager. This role interacts regularly with Local Law Enforcement, diversion and outreach programs, and supports comprehensive and detailed cases related to habitual and aggressive offenders, partnering with Law Enforcement for safe apprehension. You will also develop relationships within local community networks and outreach programs.

What You'll Do
  • Provide a high level of visible, overt presence to prevent loss and safety issues.
  • Help drive a low-risk culture and contribute to shortage reduction efforts by maintaining a visible presence on the sales floor.
  • Maintain physical security of the store and support the overall customer experience.
  • Support proper handling of escalated customer situations.
  • Assist in the investigative process from case initiation to resolution.
  • Make safe apprehensions following Gap Inc AP guidelines.
  • Collect and communicate loss and safety-related intelligence to store and Asset Protection leaders.
  • Educate store staff on safety standards, security procedures, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Promote available resources to store teams, including safety training, open door policies, and reporting hotlines.
Who You Are
  • This role requires maintaining uniform standards, including the consistent use of body-worn cameras.
  • You work closely with store leaders and Asset Protection personnel to ensure compliance with brand standards and safety initiatives.
  • Experience in high-pressure, multitask environments with a focus on results, coaching, and collaboration.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective partnerships.
  • High learning agility, sound decision-making, and professionalism.
Benefits at Gap
  • 50% merchandise discount at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta; 30% at Outlet.
  • Competitive Paid Time Off plans.
  • Up to five hours per month to volunteer at charities.
  • Extensive 401(k) plan with company matching up to 4%.
  • Employee stock purchase plan.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Additional benefits details available.
