Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or security certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in loss prevention or asset protection preferred.
• Knowledge of retail operations and shrink reduction strategies.
• Strong observational skills and ability to detect suspicious behavior.
• Able to stay calm, professional, and objective in high-pressure situations.
• Basic understanding of laws related to theft and apprehension; report writing basics.
• Comfortable using surveillance equipment and basic computer applications.
• Flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor store activity to detect theft, fraud, and policy violations.
• Conduct surveillance and investigations to identify sources of loss.
• Apprehend individuals engaged in shoplifting in accordance with policy and local laws.
• Maintain detailed reports of incidents, investigations, and apprehensions.
• Collaborate with store management and law enforcement as needed.
• Perform routine audits to identify and resolve security risks.
• Support store compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Contribute to a safe shopping and working environment through deterrence and visibility.
