Job summary

Wakefern Food Corp. seeks an Asset Protection Investigator to safeguard assets across its facilities in Elizabeth, NJ. The role involves security oversight, investigations, and coordinating with management, vendors, and associates to prevent loss and ensure safety.

The position requires a 2-year Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, 1–3 years of supervision experience, and a valid driver’s license. Expect a three-shift schedule across NJ facilities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Monitor guard staff to ensure secure perimeters and proper coverage.
• Check alarm systems and control room procedures for internal/external security.
• Oversee entry/exit of vehicles and pedestrians at facilities.
• Interact with management and union members to achieve mutual goals.
• Inspect guard posts, ensure staffing levels and paperwork are complete.
• Respond to alarm activations and coordinate reset actions.
• Oversee CCTV operations and maintain logs per policy.
• Issue keys, cores, and access control credentials as required.
• Issue seals for store deliveries and maintain gate/trailer access records.
• Ensure facility fencing and lighting are in good condition.
• Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and PPE.
• Inspect outer/inner perimeters to uphold physical security.
• Coordinate arrivals/departures of vendors, reps, and service personnel.
• Learn shipping/receiving procedures to detect improprieties.
• Gather intelligence using security interview techniques and stay informed across facilities.
• Monitor casual unloaders and handle apprehensions for court/arbitration.
• Be knowledgeable about organization and safety regulations including OSHA/HAZCOM.
• Investigate accidents and document facts for potential litigation.
• Train in non-violent crisis intervention for workplace violence.
• Understand shipping and store delivery procedures for shortages investigations.
