Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Performance Engineer for Electric Generation to monitor and improve asset performance, reliability, and net energy production. You will interpret SCADA and asset management data, develop performance baselines, and deliver stakeholder reports highlighting losses due to equipment and environmental factors.

The role collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, and Real-Time Systems to drive corrective actions and validate results, supporting predictive maintenance

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering program completed or expected by May 2026.
• 0-12+ months of relevant experience including internships/co-ops.
• Basic knowledge of power generation and renewable assets.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, AutoCAD, time-series data, drawings.
• Ability to research and extract information from drawings, manuals and tag lists.
• Ability to create basic reports with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, trend, and report on asset performance to maximize availability and net energy production.
• Analyze SCADA and asset management data to produce KPI reports and actionable insights.
• Develop and maintain performance baselines and lost production accounting for derates and outages.
• Lead investigations of lost production, equipment degradation, and data outages with cross-functional teams.
• Plan and support performance testing of SCADA and Asset Management data as sites reach operation.
• Support outage planning with performance-based prioritization and tracking.
