Job summary

LyondellBasell, a global leader in the chemical industry, seeks an Asset Manager for Polymers NA in Houston to maximize profitability of HDPE, LLDPE, LDPE, PP, and related products. The role focuses on cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and long-range asset planning across 25+ reactors in four states.

You will drive asset loading plans, partner with Sales and Manufacturing, and lead optimization tool development while ensuring product specifications align with profitability and capacity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Engineering or Technical preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience. Polymer manufacturing or commercial experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office, SAP, Power BI and Business Warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Determine economic asset balancing to maximize profitability and asset utilization.
  • Lead rationalization decisions on product deletions or specification changes.
  • Review product mix, quality, and run rates with Manufacturing and S&OP to optimize reactor wheels.
  • Own long-term value optimization of polymer assets and related models/tools.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of product slate simplification in plants.
  • Set inventory targets and monitor short-term manufacturing issues affecting profitability.

The Polyolefins Asset Manager is responsible for maximizing the profitability and growth of HDPE, LLDPE, LDPE, PP, Wire & Cable and Catalloy businesses by optimizing polymer reactor asset utilization and product profitability across over 25 reactors in four states. This position is focused internally on manufacturing cost reduction, efficiency improvements, short term production planning management, and long range asset planning,

A Day in the Life

Product profitability & optimization

  • Determineseconomic asset balancing within divisions to maximize profitability and manufacturing lineutilization.
  • Leads rationalization decisions andestablishesrecommendations onproduct deletions, specification changes, etc. by focusing on reactor capabilities versus product profitability.
  • Works with Manufacturing and S&OP to review product mix, product quality, and run rates tooptimizereactor product wheels for maximum profitability.
  • Insuresproducts produced are consistent with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Shapescommercial strategy with business leadershiponproduct strategies to grow, harvest,maintainor delete.
  • Maintains andutilizesspreadsheet optimization tools using Monte Carlo simulation software.
  • Owns thelong termvalue optimization of thepolymersassets, including responsibility for the optimization models, including the optimization tools used for inventory and product wheel management.
  • Evaluationpotential optimization toolsintegratedwith the operations planning tool
  • Reviewsand approvesrequests for customer product specifications by analyzing the profitability/manufacturing impact associated with each specification
  • Responsible for stewarding and approving internal product specifications and their associated commercial and industry specifications.
  • Allocates capacity among products/applications to balance profitability with customer service requirements.
  • Determinesoptimumreactorutilizationstrategies by working closely with Sales, Commercial Management, and Manufacturing.
  • Proposesandmaintainsmedium-term and long-term asset loading plans for the relevant NA assets by balancing the business product needs, manufacturing capabilities, R&Ddevelopmentsand changes in supply patterns to reachan optimaleconomic solution forLyondellBasell.
  • Coordinatesthe efforts needed totimelyand successfully implementproductslate simplification in theplants.
  • Setsproduct level inventory targets based on production wheel and average customer demand.
  • Monitors and recommends short term manufacturing issue resolution as it relates to business profitability and provides support to operations planners and product line planners to optimally plan production and supply customers economically

Strategy and Growth

  • Leads development of manufacturing long range operating plans through oversight of the Asset Teams.
  • Translates Marketing Excellence and Industry Marketing strategies into operating plans for best long term asset utilization.
  • Defines and influences business segment strategy through asset-backed insights.
  • Evaluates strategic implications of new markets, products, and technologies on capacity, cost structure, quality, and long-term asset competitiveness.Coordinatesasset strategy implementation atproductlevel in support of business needs and asset capabilities.
  • Prioritizes NA Polymers ProfitGeneratingcapital to meet company targets.

Process Development & Technology

  • Coordinatesproduct and raw material trials between Business, R&D, Procurement and Manufacturing.
  • Serves as business focal point for manufacturing VEP initiatives aligned to business strategy
You Bring This Value
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Engineering or Technical preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience required, polymer manufacturingand/or commercial experience is preferred
  • Computer literacy (incl. MS Office, SAP, Power BI and Business Warehouse)

  • Sound technical experience (such as manufacturing, R&D, TS)
