Job summary

Northern Trust in Chicago is offering a ten-week internship program for students pursuing a bachelor's degree with a December 2027 to Summer 2028 graduation window. You will collaborate with teams across wealth management, asset servicing, and data analytics to gain hands-on experience in financial markets and investment reporting.

You will build skills through hands-on projects, participate in leadership and mentoring events, and contribute to digital transformation initiatives such as

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0; 3.5 or above preferred.
  • Interest in financial markets, asset management, data and digital tools, and investment reporting & operations.
  • Proven analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills through coursework, projects, and internships; leadership and teamwork demonstrated.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research and competitive analysis of assets or investment products/strategies.
  • Support discovery of market trends and implications for NTAM product innovation.
  • Help with launching new investment vehicles and supporting product documentation.
  • Contribute to digital transformation projects, such as dashboards and automated workflows.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You are pursuing a bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university with an expected graduate date between December 202 7 and Summer 202 8
  • You have a minimum GPA of 3.0; 3.5 or above preferred
  • You have an interest in and are curious to learn more about financial markets and asset management products, business strategy, data and digital tools, and investment reporting & operations
  • You have proven analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills through course work, projects, and/or previous internship experience
  • You have demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular involvement
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an intern at Northern Trust, you will have the opportunity to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining internship program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders, and connect with fellow interns in the program. Through hands-on experience, meaningful project work, and exposure to a dynamic global business, you will begin to see how your interests can grow into a long-term career at Northern Trust. A recruiter will work with you to determine the best team placement given your interests, skill set, and relevant experience.

THE PROGRAM:
  • Ten weeks
  • Located in Chicago, IL
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
  • Work on research and competitive analysis of a certain asset class or an investment product/strategy
  • Research new market trends and what they mean for NTAM product innovation
  • Help execute launch of new investment vehicles, such as ETFs or UCITS, and support existing product documentation
  • Assist with digital transformation projects, such as implementing new technology capabilities, automating workflows, or building executive dashboards

Salary Range:
  • Salary is $30.00 USD per hour.
  • Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
