Job summary

Northern Trust in Chicago, IL offers a 10-week Analyst Development Internship for early-career learners. You will work with product, data, tech and design teams on meaningful projects, and participate in weekly events to develop skills and network with senior leaders.

You will be placed on a team aligned to your interests and experience, gaining hands-on experience in wealth management and financial services while building a strong professional foundation for your career.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree pursued with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Interest in financial markets and the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of product management, UX design, data science, analytics, or related fields.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities from coursework or internship.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product, data, tech and design teams on real projects.
  • Develop and present user stories and capability maps.
  • Analyze data and synthesize insights for stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional teams with research and analysis.
  • Prepare summaries and recommendations for leadership review.
  • Contribute to reports and ongoing learnings in the program.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You are pursuing a bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028
  • Preferred majors include Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, Economics
  • You have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • You are curious about financial markets and interested in learning more about the financial services industry
  • You have some knowledge of Product Management, UX Design, Data Science, Research, Statistics, Analytics, and/or Data Platforms, usually acquired through coursework or prior related experience, and are curious to learn more
  • You have proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience
  • You have demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and extracurricular involvement
WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an intern at Northern Trust, you will spend ten weeks building relevant skills, working on meaningful projects, and participating in a collaborative program designed to support your early career development. You will work directly with your team on day-to-day tasks while joining weekly program events to develop new skills, network with senior leaders and connect with your intern cohort. A recruiter will work with you to determine the best team placement given your interests, skill set and relevant experience.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
  • Work with multiple stakeholders across product, data, tech, and design to deliver excellent experiences for clients and partners
  • Research and use competitive insights to create capability maps
  • Develop and review user stories
  • Data Analysis & Visualization: analysis of large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
  • Complete, compile and present a high-quality summary of findings and recommendations for review in a concise and professional manner
  • Run, create and analyze reports
  • Support Wealth Management teams in various projects
  • Develop professional skills related to assigned area of Risk

Salary Range

Salary is $35.00 USD per hour

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
