McGrath is hiring an Asset Maintenance & Inventory Technician in South Plainfield, NJ. The role focuses on yard organization with forklift, container maintenance, and on-site field service support.

The candidate should have 2–3 years in a construction yard, forklift experience, and basic computer skills. Light welding and electrical abilities are beneficial; independence and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment.
• Forklift experience required.
• Basic computer experience expected.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with prefixed experience repairing containers, trailers and metal bins.

Responsibilities

• Yard organization using forklift to arrange containers by size and repair state.
• Clean, paint and perform basic yard maintenance on containers.
• Support customers with on-site field service calls.
• Perform light welding, electrical work, wiring, and basic AC servicing.
• Maintain inventory readiness and quality checks for containers leaving the yard.
• Receive or load assets with third-party vendors and report to Ops Coordinator.
• Keep forklift logs and inventory reports up to date.

“What You’ll Do”

• Yard organization using forklift to organize containers by size, state of repair
• Cleaning, painting and basic repair/up keep of containers in the yard
• Support customers by doing on site field service calls.
• Light welding and electrical experience, rewiring, switches and outlets; use of power washer and other power tools, general maintenance skills rust remediation; including strong carpentry and painting skills
• Manage the preparation and availability of all container inventory at the yard.
• Inspect, repair and maintain sufficient quantities of all container types.
• Perform basic AC service for office and combo units including filter changes, thermostat replacements and coil cleaning.
• Organize and ensure we have proper building materials inventory levels for container repair.
• Ensure each asset leaving is prepared and quality checked.
• Receive or load assets to/from third party vendors and report activities to Ops Coordinator.
• Maintain Forklift In and Out Logs and other inventory reports and move inventory with forklift.
• Able to work outside in variable weather conditions including high temperature summer months.
• Ability to work independently and have the drive to take the initiative if direct supervision is not available on a constant basis.
• Follow all company guidelines for working safely. Actively participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
• Bi-yearly inventory responsibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned

“Must Haves”

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment
• Forklift experience
• Basic computer experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude with preferred experience repairing containers, van trailers, and metal waste bins
• Prior experience working in a yard environment, processing paperwork, keeping accurate inventory, basic carpentry and basic electrical ability. light welding experience and AC troubleshooting ability
• Be able to work independently and in a safe and proper manner.
• High-energy, can-do, get-results person with high integrity.
• Valid Drivers License

“Nice to Haves”

• Forklift experience with large, oversize/heavy products preferred

Special Considerations:

• Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
• Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
