Job summary

Lamar Institute of Technology is seeking an Accountant to report to the Executive Director of Student Business Services, handling capital and property accounting with a strong knowledge of higher education policies. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and involves extensive account reconciliation and asset management responsibilities.

Preferred candidates hold a Master’s degree and experience in higher education accounting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to transactions.
Experience with accounting in higher education or state agency preferred.

Responsibilities

Reconciles various accounts.
Maintains Capital Assets in Banner Fixed Assets; tagging and safeguarding assets.
Performs data entry of inventory items and reconciles inventory with ledger for capital and equipment purchases.
Performs annual physical inventory for the campus.
Stays apprised of GASB rules and reports Unclaimed Liabilities.
Assists with grant tracking, budget data entry, and USAS transactions.
Assists with reporting for audits and audit responses; supports procedures.
Assists in handling special projects and developing procedures in the Business Office.
Other duties as assigned.
